Travel - NZ - Leonardo Da Vinci comes to Chrstchurch

Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, Shows
For a couple of years now I have been trying to catch an exhibition of machine models made by Florentine craftsmen to Leonardo daVinci’s designs. The exhibition has been put together by the Florence museum and has been traveling the world. I just missed it in Sydney and then it was due to head off [...]

Step off the Edge and Fly

This isn't poi, but I think you'll like it. Put on good speakers or headphones if you've got them. It's a beautiful song, and quite the inspiration if you're looking for courage at the moment.

Interesting

After reading an article from Newsvine about Sara Palin I discovered this comment by a reader:

This woman has no conscience, no moral compass, and a snide, sneering kind of superiority reverse elitism complex. Her ambition has cost her the respect of her own grown children, who seem hell bent on NOT doing her bidding, and now she’s working on losing the respect of the entire nation with her lies.

Then I thought to myself….Is Sara Palin an Aquarius??? And guess what…

-Now I know I will get hate mail form Aquarians and I have known some lovely ones in my time but this sentence reeks of someone have a horrible experience with one.
I just found that very interesting.

Poi News: Next stops: England, Germany, and Costa Rica

Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, Shows

Get this: I'm coming to England, and then Germany, and then probably Costa Rica. Details below:

--------------------------
ENGLAND:

I arrive Oct 14th, and will stay until mid-November. The Basic Plan looks like this:

Nov 1st-2nd: Workshops in Brighton
Nov 3 and 10: Workshop in Worthing
Nov 8th-9th: Workshops in Bristol

The Rest of the Time: Visiting friends, catching up with the huge amount of work I always seem to have on my list, and pursuing any other fun and interesting opportunities that manifest (do you know of any?). Nothing scheduled in London so if anybody wants to help I would offer workshops there as well.

If you do not live in Bristol or Brighton, let us know and we can find you a place to stay if you want to come for the weekend. We're booking the hall for extra hours in the evenings, so there will be lots of time to learn and play.

---------------------------------------------
GERMANY:

Germany is still in the planning phase. I'll probably arrive Nov 12th, and will offer a few workshops in a few cities. We're currently checking into Koln, Nurnberg, Munich, Dresden, Frankfurt, and possibly Berlin. Nothing is finalized yet, so if you want me to come to your city, let me know soon. Sam at Feuershow is helping plan the tour, more details coming.

---------------------------------------------
COSTA RICA

I've been emailing with Jeremy at Esquella Del Sol about poi retreats in Costa Rica, for January and February. I'm a bit scared about buying the expensive plane ticket on my ever-abused credit cards, but it seems like the closest I can come to the USA for a while, and a great opportunity to have people help me create Play Camp. If you would consider a poi vacation this winter, get in touch and/or keep your eyes on the website. More details coming soon.

Peace and poi,

Nick

Edna St.Vincent Millay

Millay

I have had this picture hanging in my home for years. I found an old postcard in a shop in Albuquerque, NM. I find it ironic that I never knew this was Edna S. Vincent Millay and the 1st woman to win the Pulitzer Prize.
