the tide is coming in

Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, Shows

I am just so tired of trying to figure it all out. How it should be, how it could be, how I could be, how we could be, how all of this coulda, shoulda woulda.

I just want to be how I am
I’m sorry if that’s hurtful
I’m sorry if that’s offensive
I’m sorry if that’s not comfortable

I just want to be how I am.
At some point I have to care about being honest and authentic with myself more than censoring to meet the needs of others.

*The INFJ will need support and verbal support from their mate. Criticism is death to the INFJ type.
*The INFJ believes they know well almost everything, have difficulty seeing otherwise.
*The INFJ may not openly show/verbalize the extremely deep feelings they may have.
*INFJs typically enjoy idealized settings, they may revisit a first date venue, first kiss, marriage proposal site, etc…be disappointed if mate does not see the benefit of such activity.
*The INFJ needs relationship. They can be quick to begin one that is not good just to have one, the quickly change when the “real thing” is found.
*At times, the INFJ can probe too deeply in relationship, looking for hidden meaning, not knowing their mate is irritated by such probing.
*The INFJ can be among, perhaps is, the most stubborn of all the types. INFJ is very patient but when time has run out they will write one off forever.
*This type will bond deeply with children, try to be their friend.
*Will have a potentially rich fantasy life.
*Very affectionate at their own time and in their own way.

Conflict Reactions Personality Traits:

*The INFJ may be completely surprised that there is a conflict altogether
*INFJ can become easily depressed when conflict begins
*Will likely be deeply hurt
*INFJ is likely to IGNORE the conflict if it hurts to much
*Will accommodate (give in) to others if INFJ VALUES are NOT compromised
*Eventually may see the conflict as a chance for personal growth
*INFJs will work hard to reach a mutual, harmonious solution

Conflict Resolution Activity Personality Traits

*Unless stressed, INFJ will be respectful as they work for solution
*Will keep “harmony” in mind at all times
*Unless stressed, the INFJ will not “criticize” during resolution attempts
*Normally patient as all parties speak their minds toward resolution
*INFJ solutions will be insightful
*INFJ will embrace consensus and a win-win attitude

Positive Solutions Will Be

*May be idealistic and future oriented
*Harmonious to all parties
*Likely very “creative”
*People oriented
*Embracive of compromise, cooperation and communication
*Results-focused

Conflict Resolution Activity-Improvement Opportunities (weaknesses)

*INFJ will probably get their feelings hurt during the process
*Because of the above, INFJ will not get to the point as quickly in conflict
*INFJ may tend to exclude those responsible and talk to others first
*INFJ will naturally ignore details
*INFJ will take it all very personally
*INFJ may be too “indirect” which looks like they are ignoring others
*For harmony sake, the INFJ may move too quickly toward resolution and regret it later
*The INFJ thought can be too complex and not stated concisely enough for others

BBC Radio 1’s Burning Man Experience

Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, Shows

BBC's Bobby FrictionThe UK’s BBC Radio 1 got brave, and sent Bobby Friction, one of their on-air DJs, across the pond to attend Burning Man for the first time in 2009, and to record his experience along the way. It’s fun to ride along with Bobby as he’s transfixed and transformed by the playa, Black Rock City, and Burners, while learning what Burning Man is all about.

You can listen to his podcast here.  (Note: it contains language that might offend some listeners.)

the thought of working in a system where I would have to network with the ass kissers of my community made me wanna hurl until I discovered I can work with the dude they all hated and fired and he STILL has his own city CDC.
I said enthusiastically – ” so he’s the rouge? hell yeah I can work with that!”

i love reinventing the wheel & flaunting it!

Sanlun Yishu in front of the Great Wall of China

Have you checked out the Black Rock Arts Foundation’s BLOG recently?  It is filled with art from our grantees and events we would love to share with you.  Just in the last 10 days we have blogged about mobile interactive art in China, a Burning Man and Black Rock Arts Foundation artist, Dan Das Mann, Cardboardia in Russia, and a fabulous Valentine’s Day event in San Francisco we would love to attend with you.

We keep you up to date on our Grants to Artists, Civic Arts and ScrapEden programs.

Did I hear you say you aren’t familiar with the Black Rock Arts Foundation?

The mission of the Black Rock Arts Foundation is to support and promote community-based interactive art and civic participation. For our purposes, interactive art means art that generates social participation. The process whereby this art is created, the means by which it is displayed and the character of the work itself should inspire immediate actions that connect people to one another in a larger communal context.”

So come on over and check us out!
