Poi Retreat in BALI: April 19th - 25th
Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, ShowsTHE VISION:
Week 1: A full week of poi dancing, dance, yoga, celebration, creative expression, and explorations of one of the most beautiful and unique islands on earth.
Week 2: Stay an extra week for the Bali Spirit Festival. A fusion of music-festival and yoga/dance-retreat, this is a world-class gathering of yoga teachers, dancers, and performers. This is the perfect context to explore the meaning and depth of poi.
ABOUT BALI:
Bali is part of Indonesia, and lies about 8 degrees south of the equator, in the Indian Ocean, to the east of the Java and north-west of Australia. It has an ancient and very unique Hindu culture. Measuring only 140km by 80km, the island is dominated by towering volcanoes, rice terraces, and more temples than you could count!

Inspiring Speech on the Creative Muse by Elizabeth Gilbert
Posted in Contributors, Recent, Reviews, ShowsHave you heard of TED? It's an annual convention on Technology, Education, and Design, with a focus on making the world healthier and happier. Amazing speakers from many fields are given 18 minutes to make the speech of a lifetime, and they put the videos online.
Elizabeth Gilbert is author of Eat Pray Love, a book about a woman exactly my current age on a spiritual pilgrimage to Italy, India, and Bali. A copy was left in my cabin in Costa Rica, so I finally read it. Last week I watched her talk on TED, and I was touched. Much of my life has been directed by the whims of the creative muse she speaks of, and I found inspiration and refuge in her words.
So, here it is: All ye artists take note!
